I’m currently reading an unusual little book, written by Phil Cousineau in 1998: The Art of Pilgrimage. (Copyright 1998 MJF Books, NY:NY) In it, the author writes: …”a travel companion told me on our journey through Mexico that he always knew where I’d been because I left spirals behind in the dirt paths to the temples. He was right, I look at them and realized that they were counterclockwise ones, which I learned later are maps of the effort toward the spirit.” This point about a deeper meaning of the spiral form reminded me of something I read in Ed Esko’s “First Drafts”: (In the middle of an essay about the energy patterns revealed by the game of baseball) “In the Northern Hemisphere, where baseball originated, energy spirals down (yang) in a counterclockwise direction and up (yin) in a clockwise direction.” That complete essay is at the following link (once there, type the word ‘counterclockwise’ into the searchbox at the top right of the page to find the above paragraph): http://www.eskoterra.com/ebook/FirstDrafts2000-2010.pdf Your thoughts
