Agave nectar?

Hi everyone, I wondered if anybody had any macrobiotic perspectives on agave nectar. I’ve used it before – it comes in both raw and non-raw forms, and when I was doing a raw foods diet I opted for it’s raw form as my preferred sweetener, but I don’t really understand how different syrups compare or why corn syrup is considered harmful whereas rice syrup is considered good. I know the glycemic index is higher in corn syrup, but what’s the macrobiotic take on it?

Ayurvedic medicine is set of practices

Ayurvedic medicine is set of practices promoted by proponents of transcendental meditation (TM). Ayurveda (meaning “life knowledge”) is a traditional Indian approach that includes meditation, “purification” procedures, rejuvenation therapies, herbal and mineral preparations, exercises and dietary advice based on “body type.” Its origin is traceable to four Sanskrit books called the Vedas — the oldest and most important scriptures of India, shaped sometime before 200 BCE. These books attributed most disease and bad luck to demons, devils, and the influence of stars and planets

Is Decaf Tea Less Protective?

Q: Is Decaf Tea Less Protective? Is decaffeinated green tea as effective an antioxidant as regular green tea, particularly with regard to cancer prevention? I assume the process of decaffeinating tea makes more changes than just removing caffeine

The Fundamental Western Belief

It occurred to me the other day the reason why I pass a drive-thru pharmacy on the way to work, why our hospitals are always full, why so many people accept unfulfillment as a natural human condition: “Some things just happen.” – no cause, no reason, they just happen. It’s because of this belief that such an infantile method for solving problems is so pervasive in western society – most notably in health. The situation reminds me of a cartoon I saw when I was a kid where a mouse is discovered by a woman in her home and to get rid of the mouse she gets a cat.
