 Maoist strike hits train, bus movement in six states

Hyderabad/Raipur: Trains were cancelled, buses went off the roads and Chattisgarh’s iron ore transportation was disrupted as Maoists began a two-day shutdown in six states on Wednesday to protest the killing of their spokesperson Chelukuri Rajkumar alias Azad.  Maoists kill Chhattisgarh Congress leader’s kin, employee

Dozens of Maoists attacked a Congress leader’s house and a police station in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district early Thursday, killing a relative and an employee of the politician. At least four Maoists were also shot dead. Guerrillas opened fire at Congress leader Avdhesh Singh Gautam’s house and a police station, some 450 km from Raipur, simultaneously at around 1 a.m.



 Shortage of security personnel hampers Naxal operations: Centre

Kolkata/ Raipur: Union Home Secretary G K Pillai on Tuesday hinted that shortage of security personnel had slowed the pace of operations against the Naxalites in the country. “The Union government does not have adequate number of forces and it will take some time to recruit the personnel and train them before deploying in the Naxalite-infested areas,” Pillai said here on Tuesday evening. read more

 Two naxals arrested in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Two naxals have been arrested from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh following an encounter with CRPF men in Karkapal forest area, police said today. India’s Maoist problem Maoists Hemlal and Sukhlal were apprehended yesterday by CRPF jawans after the outlaws opened fire on the security personnel in Karkapal jungles in Badgaon during a patrol in the area, Kanker Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav told PTI

 Village Panchayat secretary, 2 others killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Three men including the secretary of a village Panchayat in Bijapur district were killed by Naxalites, police said. The three men – Modem Narpalli, Morla Ganaiya and Durgam Banaiya, were killed by the Maoists police said, adding, their throats were slit open with a sharp weapon. Earlier, six men including the deceased were kidnapped by the Naxalites, as they believed them to be police informers, police said.
